Funding your web project with the Brussels-Capital Region's digitalization grant

25% to 70% of costs covered, up to €10,000 a year. The conditions checked against official sources, and the rule you can't miss: apply before you start.

If your business has an operating site in Brussels, part of your website or business tool can be funded by the Region. The digitalization grant (prime Digitalisation), managed by Brussels Economy and Employment (Bruxelles Économie et Emploi, BEE), covers 25% to 70% of the cost of a project carried out by an external provider.

Good news for 2026: faced with a sharp rise in applications, BEE suspended several grants from August 12, 2026 (consulting, training, recruitment, coworking…), but the digitalization grant is among those that remain available. BEE describes this as a temporary change, and the scheme may still evolve.

We checked the rules below in October 2026, on the official page and in the decree of February 22, 2024. Before you sign anything, always check the official page.

Who is eligible?

The grant is for SMEs: micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The ordinance refers to the EU definition of an enterprise, which covers any entity engaged in an economic activity, whatever its legal form. If you're self-employed or a nonprofit (ASBL), check your situation with the “À quelles primes avez-vous droit ?” (Which grants are you entitled to?) tool on BEE's website.

According to the official page, your business must also:

  • have at least one operating site in the Brussels-Capital Region;
  • be active in an eligible sector, based on its NACE code (BEE publishes the list);
  • have an economic and commercial purpose, and not be more than 75% publicly funded;
  • not have received €300,000 in de minimis aid over the last three years;
  • be up to date with filing and publishing its annual accounts;
  • have a diversity plan if it has more than 50 employees.

Which projects are covered?

The project must cover one of three areas: digitalizing your internal processes, your means of production or your products and services; IT security for your business; or the technical development or improvement of your website. It must also meet a few conditions:

  • it lasts 6 months at most;
  • it is exceptional in nature: it solves a one-off problem for which you don't have the skills in-house. Permanent subcontracting, recurring activities or normal operating expenses are not eligible, which in principle rules out a maintenance contract;
  • you commit to the responsible digital charter attached to the decree (environmental and social impact, accessibility, ethical use of data);
  • the grant funds a service, not equipment: according to BEE's FAQ, buying IT hardware falls under a different grant, “Matériel et travaux” (equipment and works).

How much can you get?

The grant is calculated on eligible costs, excluding VAT. The base rate is 25%. It goes up if your business is a starter, meaning registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises for less than 4 years (+25% for a micro or small enterprise, +20% for a medium-sized one), and if it is recognized as exemplary on environmental or social grounds (+30% for a micro or small enterprise, +20% for a medium-sized one, for each criterion).

Increases add up, capped at 70% of eligible costs and €10,000 per beneficiary per calendar year. The minimum grant is €500 per project, with at most 2 funded projects per calendar year. Note that the grant counts as taxable income for the business. A few examples:

  • SME with no increase, €6,000 project excl. VAT: 25%, so a €1,500 grant.
  • Micro-enterprise starter, same project: 25% + 25% = 50%, so €3,000.
  • Small business recognized as exemplary on both social and environmental grounds: 70%, the maximum. The €10,000 cap is reached from about €14,300 of costs excl. VAT.
  • At the base rate, you need at least €2,000 of costs excl. VAT to reach the €500 minimum.

The golden rule: apply before you start

This is the rule you can't miss: the application must be submitted on the MonBEE platform no later than the day before the project starts. A project that has already started is no longer eligible.

To help structure your project, hub.brussels experts offer free support, as BEE points out. The official timeline is as follows:

  • The application includes, among other things, the provider's quote (valid at the time of the application), a CV and a trade register extract.
  • If it's incomplete, BEE lets you know within 15 days, and you have 1 month to complete it.
  • BEE makes its decision no later than 4 months after receiving the complete application.
  • The project starts at the earliest the day after you apply, and at the latest 3 months after the grant decision. Starting before the decision is therefore possible, but at your own risk: if the grant is refused, the whole invoice is yours.
  • After the grant decision, you have 12 months to send the supporting documents. The grant is then paid in a single installment.
  • You commit to keeping your business active in the Brussels Region for at least 3 years after the grant decision.

In Wallonia and Luxembourg

Similar schemes exist elsewhere, with their own rules:

  • Wallonia: the “maturité numérique” (digital maturity) business voucher has been suspended for new applications since July 12, 2026. The cybersecurity voucher is still available: 75% of costs, up to €50,000 excl. VAT over 3 years, with an approved (labeled) provider. For AI projects, the Agence du Numérique runs the Start IA and Tremplin IA programs.
  • Luxembourg: the SME Packages Digital fund 70% of eligible costs for projects between €3,000 and €25,000 excl. VAT (website, management software, e-invoicing). You need, among other things, a business permit and a registered office in Luxembourg, and you must go through a pre-analysis with the House of Entrepreneurship or the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts before starting the project.

Choosing your provider

The rules also set conditions for the provider. According to the official page and the decree, the provider must have the relevant consulting service as its main activity, be specialized in the field, have been doing it for at least 2 years, prove its expertise through references and practical experience, be independent from your business and invoice you directly. It must also not have already provided you with two funded projects in the last two years.

What we could not confirm: neither the official page nor the decree says explicitly whether the provider must be established in Belgium or may be based elsewhere in the European Union, and we found no list of approved providers for this grant, unlike the Walloon vouchers. The page also doesn't say how software licenses and subscriptions are treated. On these points, ask BEE (+32 2 800 34 00) before you sign.

On our side, we can scope your project in a free 30-minute diagnostic, then give you a detailed, dated quote to attach to your application. We can't guarantee that the grant will be awarded, or that our studio meets every condition set for the provider: Brussels Economy and Employment decides, case by case. For reference, a company website starts at €1,500 excl. VAT with us, and a portal or business tool at €6,000 excl. VAT.
